DNA says all 5G base stations connected to SA core; upgrade to go live in 2022

Finnish mobile operator DNA has announced that all of its 5G base transceiver stations (BTS) are now connected to a core network that supports Standalone (SA) 5G architecture. Kimmo Liikonen, DNA’s Director of Core and IP Networks, commented: ‘For our customers, the implementation will take place in stages during 2022, as long as the last quality assurance and design work has been done. We are also looking forward to the sale of terminals that fully support the Standalone 5G network, which are not yet widely available.’

DNA’s Non Standalone (NSA) 5G network currently boasts coverage of 53% of the Finnish population, with connectivity available in more than 124 locations.
