Nepal Telecom (NT) earned net profit of Rs 2.25 billion in the first three months of the current fiscal year, which was 49 percent more than the amount that the state-owned telecommunication company earned in the same period last year.
The NT’s officials attributed an exorbitant rise in the company’s profit to an expansion of its 4G service. Similarly, an increase in use of internet service mainly due to a rise in use of e-commerce, online classes and internet based games also ensured the company with good financial returns.
According to NT, it generated revenue worth Rs 10.95 billion during the review period, an increase of 13.2 percent. Last year, the company made an annual net profit of Rs 7.45 billion, a straight fall of 23.5 percent compared to that of the previous year.
