Digicel Jamaica is targeting 99% LTE population coverage within twelve months, as part of a US$200 million upgrade programme.
Chandrika Samaroo, CTIO at Digicel Jamaica, told the Jamaica Observer that around USD70 million of the investment budget has been spent to date, and 4G coverage currently stands at 95%. When the work is complete, all of Digicel’s cell sites (2G coverage: 99%) will support LTE technology. Mr Samaroo added: ‘The investments are not only concentrated in urban areas and will address most of the pain points we are seeing.’
