edotco’s handover of 113 towers in 7 states helps deliver JENDELA implementation

edotco Malaysia (edotco) has announced the handover of 113 new telecommunications infrastructure for Phase 1 of the Jalinan Digital Negara (JENDELA) to provide connection in seven states, namely Kedah, Kelantan, Perak, Pahang, Negeri Sembilan, Johor, and Sabah.

In a statement today it said the JENDELA project, driven by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), aims to help mobile network operators in expanding and expediting mobile coverage availability in underserved rural areas.

“Our understanding of the project requirements and track record in pioneering trailblazing projects made us an ideal partner for MCMC in deploying cost-effective solutions that support the Malaysia Digital Economy Blueprint (MyDIGITAL).

“The telecommunications infrastructure bridges the digital divide by allowing public cellular services to be provided in places where coverage is limited or non-existent. It helps to achieve the goal of empowering the local community with equal access to socioeconomic benefits,” edotco managing director Wan Zainal Adileen said.

MCMC spearheads catalytic infrastructure-based initiatives via the implementation of active and passive transmission infrastructure following its efforts to plan and implement universal service provision in Malaysia.

To accelerate the implementation, edotco commenced the tower installations in February 2020 simultaneously in all the seven states. The tower installation includes radio equipment and other ancillaries at all 113 sites, it added.
