Upp partnering with Light Source on FTTH rollout

UK-based infrastructure vendor Light Source is working with domestic broadband provider Upp to help deliver the latter’s ongoing fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network rollout, ISPreview reports. Confirming the development, Upp COO Eryl Stafford said: ‘We are thrilled to be working with Light Source. We chose them because they strive for excellence in their delivery of FTTH infrastructure, but also align with Upp on so many of our values. There’s an exciting future ahead as we continue our rollout alongside Light Source throughout the East of England.’

Alongside the revealing of its vendor partner, it was also confirmed that the company’s initial rollout will target towns across Norfolk and Lincolnshire, with Stamford (Lincolnshire) and Diss (Norfolk) the first to benefit. With the company aiming to cover around 300,000 premises across 50 towns by the end of 2022 under its first build phase, it is understood to be ultimately planning to invest a total of GBP1 billion (USD1.4 billion) to reach one million premises in eastern England with its full fibre infrastructure by 2025.
