IPTV growth continues in Moldova

The number of IPTV subscribers in Moldova increased by 4.4% in the first six months of this year.

According to figures published by the regulator ANRCETI, it stood at 219,900 as of June 30, while the number of cable subscribers fell by 3.5% over the same period to 144,900. The number of pay-TV subscribers as a whole rose by 1.1% to around 365,000.

As of June 30, 82.4% of pay-TV subscribers received digital TV signals and the remainder analogue. Furthermore, 60% of subscribers were connected via IPTV networks and 49% via coaxial cable. Meanwhile, the penetration of pay-TV services per 100 households increased by 1.1pp in the first six months of this year to 42.1%.

Pay-TV sales were 27% higher at MDL58 million (€2.8 million), with IPTV accounting for MDL36.3 million, or 62.6%, of the total. ARPU increased by 21.1% to MDL53.2.

As of the end of Q2, Moldtelecom was the leading provider in revenue terms (29.8%), followed by TV Box (29.5%), Orange Moldova (21.2%) and other operators (19.5%).
