Telekom Deutschland says it has rolled out 5G at 296 locations across Germany in the past nine weeks. Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS) has also been deployed to ensure that LTE services can also be used at these locations. The firm also stated that 4G capacity has been increased at 420 locations, while 104 new LTE locations have been added, with 4G population coverage now standing at 98.8%.
‘We are pushing the pace with the expansion of mobile communications,’ said Walter Goldenits, Managing Director Technology at Telekom Deutschland, adding: ‘Currently, more than 32,000 locations are transmitting in the Telekom network. In addition, we put more than 1,500 new locations into operation every year. In addition, there are LTE and 5G expansions at thousands of existing locations. As part of our massive expansion activities, 5G will become the new standard in Telekom’s cellular network.’
