Atos and the Egyptian Government, represented by Egypt's Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the Mobile World Congress 2021 in Barcelona. With this agreement, Atos and ITIDA aim to accelerate the development of the digital sector in Egypt and create new employment opportunities locally.
Atos undertakes to expand its offshore operations directed towards exporting services including ERP software implementation, technical support, software development and infrastructure database management. Atos’ portfolio and focus areas include smart city services, AI and Cloud solutions, big data and analytics, and cybersecurity.
The agreement between Atos and ITIDA was signed at MWC 2021 in the presence of Amr Mahfouz, ITIDA CEO; Nourdine Bihmane, Executive Vice-President of Atos and Head of Growing Markets; Ahmad Elharany, Atos General Manager for Egypt.
Amr Mahfouz, CEO of ITIDA, said: “We are committed to support Atos plans to ramp up its operations in Egypt as part of our mandate and the support we can offer to global tech players and inward investors every step of the way and help them better serve their customers across the globe."
ITIDA acts as a focal point for foreign investors and a strategic advisor to multinational companies investing in the local digital sector. ITIDA promotes and encourages the development of international competitiveness of ICT services and products in Egypt.

The country holds about 17 % of the global offshore BPO market, with exports revenue climbing to more than $4.2 billion last year, according to IDC.
