SpeedChecker, the mobile crowdsourcing company released a new report on the performance of mobile networks in Iraq. This report is part of an ongoing commitment from SpeedChecker to benchmark true user experience. The SpeedChecker report has been compiled using data from 40,430 unique mobile devices performing 66,477 tests in three weeks in May 2021.
Iraqi Kurdistan in the north enjoys an average download speed in excess of 10 Mb/s from the top three providers (Asiacell, Korek and Zain). This is above the average for Iraq but still not particularly fast. Asiacell (Iraqi company) and Korek (Iraqi Kurdish company) are the best in the region with averages over 15 Mb/s.
Baghdad has faster speeds with an average of over 20 Mb/s. Newroz coverage in Iraq is limited to Iraqi Kurdistan.
Latency is poor for all providers with Asiacell being the best but even they are over 100 ms.
