Brac, Bangla Trac sign MoU to promote Ami Probashi app

Social development organization Brac and private company Bangla Trac Group on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote Ami Probashi, an app that facilitates overseas employment related services.

Bangla Trac developed the app with the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment.

Brac Executive Director Asif Saleh and Bangla Trac Director Namir Ahmad signed the agreement on behalf of the respective parties. Bangla Trac Key Account Manager Sharif Uddin Ahmed, Brac Senior Director KAM Morshed, and head of the Brac Migration Program Shariful Hasan were present at the signing ceremony, among others.

Through the Ami Probashi app, people wishing to pursue work overseas can easily access information on online applications, search for relevant jobs, connect to government-approved recruiting agents, access a list of passport offices and medical centres, as well as information on stages of the immigration process and country-wise regulations, according to a press release.

Brac will engage itself to inform aspiring migrants about the mobile app, taking it to the marginalised communities, it added.

During the signing ceremony, Asif Saleh said migrant workers are often exploited because they do not have access to the proper information.

“We have been working for a long time to make aspiring migrants aware and skilled. They will get authentic information using this app. Brac will work so that migrant workers can make proper use of this app and gain access to various services,” he added.

Bangla Trac director Namir Ahmad said: “This app contains information on all the steps associated with going abroad legally. Users can scan and store important documents, including copies of their passports, job approval letters, and National Identity Cards, in the app.

“The app also offers detailed information and email addresses of the contact persons in different countries in case someone faces a problem abroad. We expect to make the app functional through Brac,” he added.

The app is available for download on the Google Play Store. User registration with the app will require an email address or a mobile number.
