German energy company and alternative telco EWE has launched an upgraded TV offering, ZuhauseTV with Ocilion.
The TV technology and content specialist has supplied on-premises infrastructure for EWE’s IPTV service, along with
4K set-top boxes, first and second-screen apps and content packages.
The Oldenburg-based operator supplies telecom services to around 700,000 customers in north-western Germany, Brandenburg, Rügen and parts of Poland.
Ocilion is supplying capability for cloud-based recording, catch-up TV and a EWE-branded UI. The service is scheduled for launch later this year over EWE’s fibre-based network.
“EWE is one of the largest energy companies in Germany, already sup- plies 700,000 customers with telecommunications services and is investing even more in the fibre optic infrastructure. We are therefore very pleased to have won EWE as an innovative partner in order to establish a long-term, competitive product on the market together with ZuhauseTV with our customized on-premises solution. The IPTV complete solution is hosted in the infrastructure of EWE and enables the ongoing expansion of the offer to include new functions and additional content – according to the needs of the end customer,” said Hans Kühberger, CEO of Ocilion.
“We want to offer our customers individual products for everything around their home. With our new ZuhauseTV product, we are taking our IPTV offering to a new level. It complements our existing home portfolio for everything around electricity, gas, mobile communications and internet and delivers a comprehensive entertainment package right into your own four walls,” said Andreas Mayer, head of the energy and telecom products business unit at EWE.
