Kalaam Telecom updates network map following Zajil acquisition

Private Bahraini telco Kalaam Telecom has updated its infrastructure map following the acquisition of Zajil Telecom.

Kalaam announced the deal had completed on 2 June, creating a $100 million technology solutions company with licensed operations in three countries: Kuwait, Saudi and Bahrain

Zajil has ownership in the Europe-India Gateway cable (EIG), a 15,000km international fibre-optic submarine cable system that links 12 countries across three continents. Alongside Kalaam’s new KNOT terrestrial cable, it enables "a unique combination of submarine and terrestrial options to customers, especially hyperscalers, cloud operators and content players," Kalaam said.

Veer Passi, CEO of Kalaam Telecom said: "Kalaam has grown rapidly, from a privately-owned local operator to become a regional telecom leader serving a broad base of enterprise, wholesale and channel customers. The acquisition of Zajil empowers Kalaam Group to become a full stack one-stop, end-to-end solutions provider of choice for the local and regional enterprise market and the international wholesale business. Kalaam has impressively evolved from being a pure ISP to become a 360-degree digital solutions provider, building a full stack industry customised ecosystem of ICT solutions, including cloud, security, data center, IoT, AI and unified communications for its customers."

The combined network covers 25 countries across the MENA region, Europe, the US and Asia with 53 fully owned Point of Presence (PoPs) to deliver all the product lines, and industry-specific solutions for the banking, oil and gas, retail, telecoms and transportation sectors.
