Finnish cellco DNA has announced that following its latest expansion drive, its 5G network now covers 42% of the population, spanning 103 towns and cities with the latest generation of mobile broadband technology. With the mobile network operator (MNO) noting that the most recent towns to be linked to its 5G network included Janakkala, Kankaanpaa, Kokemaki, Kristinestad and Lohja, it claimed that the construction of both its own network and the infrastructure being rolled out by Finnish Shared Network (Suomen Yhteisverkko, SYV) – its JV with Telia Finland – had ‘progressed rapidly in May-June’.
Meanwhile, the MNO said it is currently expanding its 5G coverage particularly in Helsinki city centre, Espoo, Jyvaskyla and Lahti, with it existing infrastructure in these areas, as well as in Forssa, Hameenlinna, Kokkola, Pori and Rauma, to be expanded ‘this summer’. Looking ahead, later in the summer the cellco has said it aims to bolster coverage Kirkkonummi, Porvoo, Raseborg, Seinajoki and Vaasa.
