Orange Jordan celebrates Coding Academy second cohort graduation

Orange Jordan celebrated the graduation of 50 students of the second cohort of its Coding Academy in an event held online in accordance with the measures taken to combat COVID.

Orange Jordan CEO, Thierry Marigny, Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) President, Professor Mashhoor Al-Refai, founder of Simplon the Academy's partner, Frédéric Bardeau, several executives from the company, representatives of media and local companies, and the academy's training partners attended the graduation.

During the event, registration for the third cohort of the academy was announced to start on June 20, amid an increasing demand to join the academy and the youth's need for supporting programs that enhance their skills and opportunities in the job market inside and outside Jordan.

CEO of Orange Jordan, Thierry Marigny congratulated the academy's graduates who benefited from free intensive training in the most sought-after programming languages and skills, noting that high-level training and skills are essential to enable youth to start a new journey in their professional life.

The company, Marigny added, embodies the concept of "training for employment", as the academy's certificates got accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Princess Sumaya University and Simplon.co.

Marigny said that the academy's students learned from expert trainers over six months in interactive ways, in addition to a one-month internship at an ICT company to prepare them for the work environment and help them utilize the skills acquired, adding that 100% of students completed their internships in local and international companies and 65% of students received job offers before completing their internship.

PSUT President, Professor Mashhoor Al-Refai, congratulated the graduates who completed the intensive training in the most required coding languages and skills in the job market, thanking the trainers for their efforts and valuing the partnership between PSUT and Orange, in light of the directives of HRH Princess Sumaya Bint El Hassan, Chairman of PSUT's Board of Trustees.

"I applaud Orange's efforts and its social responsibility leadership by providing integrated and carefully designed digital education to increase the employment rate of young people and prepare them for present and future careers in the digital sector", he added.

The Coding Academy is the first of its kind to be inaugurated by Orange Group in the Middle East, as it was launched in partnership with Simplon.co to offer free training, following the success of similar coding academies in Senegal and France.

Coding Academy by Orange is one of the company's corporate social responsibility programs that focuses on digital education to increase youth's employment rate in the kingdom and meet the needs of different sectors of programmers and technical experts, as part of the company's efforts as a responsible digital leader.
