Seaborn connects to Webby Internet in Brazil

The developer-owner-operator of submarine fiber optic cable systems Seaborn Networks and the broadband network operator in Brazil Webby Internet have formed a connectivity partnership.

"Seaborn’s network is providing international connectivity to Webby’s backbone, enabling Webby to offer enhanced services and attract new customers in Brazil," said a joint press release.

Webby’s Internet backbone—which has already expanded to 2,500 kilometers, now offering coverage to more than 100 cities—is linked to Seaborn’s IP network for the Americas via its Seabras-1 and AMX-1 submarine cables.

Seabras-1 is the only direct POP to POP system between São Paulo and the New York metro, offering the most direct, low latency route between the B3 exchange in São Paulo and the trading exchanges of New Jersey.

"This partnership also will enable Webby to get closer to reaching its goal of providing best-in-class connectivity to 437,000 new residents within its network service areas," added the release.

“Our partnership with Seaborn provides us an international connection to the world Internet, giving us the ability to offer our customers enhanced data, low latency, great stability, usage protection, and higher quality services,” said Marcelino Cabral, CEO of Webby Internet.

“Webby’s customers require low latency IP to keep up with its streaming and gaming growth, and our IP network has been designed to deliver content to end-users using cutting-edge technology,” said Michel Marcelino, SVP and Head of Latin America for Seaborn. “Our infrastructure combined with our presence in the most relevant internet exchanges in the world makes our IP the ideal offering to Webby, allowing it to attract new customers while providing enhanced services of fixed broadband in the regions it operates.”
