Over half of Spanish internet homes now watch services such as Netflix, HBO or Amazon Prime.
According to data published by the regulator CNMC in its latest Household Panel, the figure stood at 49.6% at the end of 2020, representing an annual growth rate of nearly 23%.
Furthermore, as of Q4 2020 more than half (53%) of Spaniards consumed online content at least once a week, with short videos still the most common content (57.5%).
The Household Panel also shows that as of the end of 2020 the most popular social networks in Spain were Facebook and Instagram, with 57.8% of internet users using the former regularly and 43.6% the latter.
Instagram has grown in users since 2015, the year in which the percentage of internet users who used it was 19%. The rest of social networks maintain a relatively stable volume of users.
Furthermore, online messaging was the service most used by users with a smartphone (82.7% several times a day as of Q4 2020) and WhatsApp on was the one that claimed the most internet users (91.6%). This was followed by Instagram, (22.2%), Facebook Messenger (21.7%) and Telegram (11.1%).
