Ooredoo Qatar launches Enterprise EDGE to accelerate connectivity

Qatar-based multinational telecom company Ooredoo is launching the Enterprise EDGE service, which, according to the company, can be added to any standard networking service to speed cloud adoption, boost operational agility, and meet network connectivity’s need for cost-effective bandwidth.

According to a company statement, Enterprise EDGE delivers a Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) where customers can create a network by mixing and matching from a wide range of WAN connections.

Having transformed its network to be SD-WAN ready, Ooredoo offers a new capability unrivaled by traditional connectivity services, it said.

Key features of the fully hosted and Ooredoo-maintained service include simplified WAN management, reduced provisioning times, strengthened security, agile managed service offering, and flexible commercial models including CPE on leasing, thereby reducing CapEx and OpEx spends.

Working with the leading SD-WAN vendor VMware, this new, managed service allows businesses to focus on their core activities while delegating network connectivity and management to trusted partner Ooredoo.

Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad bin Nasser al-Thani, chief commercial officer at Ooredoo, said: “This new managed service will be provided at an incremental charge, costing moderately more than standard connectivity services while delivering superb returns on the investment.”

He added: “In the weeks ahead we will be sharing some of the many Enterprise EDGE use cases we are developing with customers, including those in government and oil and gas. Businesses are invited to follow our social media and the Ooredoo Qatar website to stay up-to-date with these exciting developments.”
