Telkom Indonesia-owned mobile network operator (MNO) Telkomsel has announced that as part of a wider transition from 2G and 3G services to 4G LTE, it plans to increase its VoLTE coverage from 48 regencies/cities to 230 by the end of this year.
The MNO’s director of network operations, Nugroho, explained that the expansion of VoLTE coverage forms part of the company’s commitment to prioritising customer-centric principles, while also confirming that as part of the expansion it is strengthening its collaboration with smartphone manufacturers to increase the availability of VoLTE-supported handsets and devices in its network. It currently has more than 50 such devices from the likes of Samsung, Huawei, Vivo, Xiaomi, Oppo, Advan and Evercoss. Today, some one million subscribers are active users of VoLTE, it said.
