AzTelekom introduces GPON technology in villages of Azerbaijan

The state-owned telecommunications company in Azerbaijan, Aztelekom is building a network based on Gigabyte Passive Optical Network (GPON) technology in the villages of the country within projects to expand the coverage area of ​​communication services and improve their quality.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies, the telecommunications infrastructure is being modernized, optical lines are being laid, and GPON technology is being introduced in the village of Gadashoba in the Khachmaz district and the villages of Shaftakhal, Ashagi Seyidler, and Mehdiler of the Zardab district.

The construction of a fiber-optic line with a length of more than 10 kilometers in the village of Gadashoba and more than three kilometers in the villages of the Zardab region has already been completed.

As a result of the project, more than 1,000 families in Gadashoba and 500 families in the mentioned villages of Zardab will have access to modern telecommunications services.

“To create a network, the construction of a fiber-optic line with a length of more than 10 kilometers in Gadashoba village and more than 3,000 kilometers in the specified settlements of the Zardab district has already been completed,” the ministry said.

The operator plans to continue expanding its GPON footprint in other regions of the country, it said.

"To provide citizens with quality broadband services in other regions, it is planned to work on the reconstruction of the network based on the most modern technology GPON technology," it added.
