Colombia's Caquetá department to get 276 LTE antennas

Colombia’s Caquetá department will receive 276 LTE antennas, of which 123 will be active before the end of May.

The ICT ministry plans is reaching 70% national coverage by the end of the government’s term.

While visiting Caquetá, ICT minister Karen Abudinen also encouraged participation in a call for digital transformation of media, for which the government provides 85bn pesos (US$23.1mn).

Abudinen also met with the mayor of Riecito, Julián Alberto Perdomo Losada, to discuss deployment of 42 mobile phone antennas, six digital zones, 79 digital centers, and provision of 800 computers for a school.

She promised Caquetá 324 digital centers for an investment of 47bn pesos.

Abudine urged governor Arnulfo Gasca to connect all urban areas. “Let's make this great alliance of the digital pact … I am committed to connecting 100% of rural schools this year, there are 360 schools, and with that we are closing the gaps,” she said.

So far, the ICT ministry has invested 53.7bn pesos in programs for Caquetá.
