Greek telco Cosmote will begin phasing out its 3G networks from September, with the switch-off to be complete by the end of the year.
The freed spectrum will be used to boost 4G and 5G networks. Cosmote says that its 4G network currently covers 99% of the Greek population, while its 5G service is expected to reach 50% coverage by end-2021. The firm’s 2G network will remain in operation to support voice and SMS services.
