Streaming service Disney+ is now available on Sky Q devices from Sky Deutschland. The German arm of the Comcast-owned pay TV operator also plans to launch the streamer’s app on the Sky Ticket TV Stick, which enables viewers to watch its OTT offering.
The move will give Sky Q users access via their remote control to films and series from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic and Star.
Disney+ content appears on the Sky Q user interface side by side with Sky channels and content from other partners. From the summer, Disney+ content will also be integrated into the Sky Q search function.
Sky Q users with Disney+ subscriptions can open the app, register and watch. Those who do not yet have a Disney+ subscription need to register at disneyplus.com.
Disney+ joins a line-up of apps such as ARD, ZDF, Netflix, Prime Video, RTL’s TV Now – from summer 2021 – Spotify and DAZN on the German version of Sky Q.
Users of the Sky Ticket TV Stick will also have the option of accessing the Disney+ app in addition to series, films and live sports from Sky Ticket in a few weeks.
Christian Hindennach, chief commercial officer at Sky Deutschland, said: “Sky Q makes it easier and more convenient than ever for entertainment fans to enjoy the exclusive Sky channels and the most popular media catalogues and apps on one platform with just one remote control. Thanks to the integration of Disney+, switching back and forth is no longer necessary to watch an episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier directly after Zack Snyder’s Justice League on Sky Cinema or the top match in the Bundesliga. And for everyone who streams their Sky programming via the Sky Ticket TV Stick, access to Disney+ is now easier than ever before.”
Eun-Kyung Park, general manager, media, The Walt Disney Company Germany, Switzerland and Austria, said: Disney+ now on Sky Q in Germany”Disney+ is home to exceptional storytelling from iconic brands Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic and our new Star world. Introducing Sky Q and the Sky Ticket TV Stick means even more people can enjoy the stories they love from the comfort of their own home on their screen.”
