Spusu begins 5G network rollout in Lower Austria

Austrian MVNO Spusu has announced it has begun the rollout of a 5G network in Lower Austria, with a view to becoming the country’s fourth mobile network operator. In a press release, the company revealed that it is cooperating with Nokia for the deployment of its new 5G Standalone network. The Finnish equipment vendor will supply the entire radio technology for the 5G transmission masts.

According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Spusu is owned by Austrian technology firm Mass Response and currently has more than 400,000 customers. In March 2019 it paid EUR1.8 million (USD2.1 million) for 30MHz of 5G-suitable spectrum for the Lower Austria and Burgenland region.
