British broadband provider TalkTalk has announced the launch of pure fiber services over the CityFibre network in Aberdeen, Bolton, Milton Keynes and Peterborough. TalkTalk’s premium fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) based service will offer average symmetrical speeds of 506Mbps, with its top-tier ‘Fibre 500’ plan costing GBP40 (USD55) per month on an 18-month contract. Meanwhile, a lower-speed service, ‘Fibre 150’, will offer average downlink speeds of 147Mbps, and will cost GBP32 per month. Both plans have unlimited data allowances.
Commenting on the launch, Jonathan Kini, Managing Director of TalkTalk Direct Business and Consumer, was cited as saying: ‘We believe fast, affordable, full fibre broadband should be accessible to all. This has been brought into even sharper focus by the pandemic, so we’re thrilled that people across [the launch locations] can now benefit from the UK’s latest fibre technology thanks to our new Future Fibre packages.’
