Sri Lankan mobile network operator (MNO) SLT-Mobitel has announced that, as part of its ‘Gama Samaga Pilisandara’ network rollout programme, it has successfully extended its 4G LTE footprint to Lathugala, one of the most remote villages in Ampara District situated deep inside wilderness west of Uhana, Ampara.
With the recent brand unification of fixed line operator SLT and mobile arm Mobitel, the company claims it ‘is now in a more synergised and stronger position to support the government’s vision of connecting Sri Lanka by bridging the digital divide’. The MNO’s new infrastructure in Lathugala will deliver high speed internet access and improved voice services.
