The government’s vision to ensure high-speed broadband internet in all places across the country has been gaining a momentum with 67 per cent of physical progress achieved as of mid-December.
Of the total 753 local units in the country, 512 have got internet installed which is expected to enhance and improve the delivery of the public services and facilitate their day-to-day works, according to the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA).
The NTA’s Rural Telecommunication Development Fund has been funding the internet expansion project to all the rural places in the country which would be implemented in 18 packages.
The NTA spokesperson Min Prasad Aryal shares that internet is connected in 46 districts of the 77 districts under various 12 packages. Among the 5,933 ward offices in the country, 4,213 wards have got the internet facility while 3,505 community schools of secondary level have been benefitted with the government’s Digital Nepal Framework -2019.
