Free Mobile, a subsidiary of the Iliad Group, has begun an upgrade of its LTE-A network to enable it to offer maximum download speeds of 780Mbps, reports UniverseFreebox, citing a company source.
The higher speeds, which are available across selected areas of France, have been made possible through the rollout of 4×4 MIMO and 256 QAM technologies. In order to access the higher data rates, customers in coverage areas require a compatible handset. Previously, the theoretical maximum speed offered by Free Mobile was 450Mbps.
