Oman’s total fixed internet subscriptions rose by 4.6% to touch 495,400 at the end of October 2020, compared to the same period of 2019.
Of this, fixed broadband internet connections, which have more than 256 kilobytes speed, rose 4.6% to 493,364 at the end of October 2020, according to the latest data released by National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The number of active mobile broadband subscribers rose 17.9% to 5.12 million at the end of October 2020 compared to the same period of 2019, whereas total fixed telephone lines fell by 0.9% to 584,894.
According to the NCSI report, the number of voice-over-internet protocol (VoIP) lines surged by 11.3% to 230,787. Further, analogue fixed connections fell by 8.2% to 298,258 at the end of October 2020 compared to the same period of the previous year. Public Telephone payphone connections remained unchanged at 6,801, whereas ISDN channels fell 3.6% to 47,583.
The total number of mobile subscribers fell 2.8% to 6.09 million until the end of October 2020 compared to the same period of 2019. Out of this, postpaid mobile connections increased by 26.9% to 922,605, and pre-paid mobile connections fell 6.7% to 5.17 million at the end of October 2020. Also, the number of subscribers of resellers rose by 10.3% to 1.03 million at the end of October 2020 compared to the same period of 2019.
