TATT, TSTT, Digicel deliver devices for schools

The Ministry of Education received 800 of 10,000 devices at a ceremony held recently at TATT’s offices in Barataria. This represents the first tranche of devices available via a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Telecommunication Authority of T&T (TATT), which will allow for the supply of ICT-enabled devices and SIM cards with data plans to public schools across the country.

In an unprecedented collaboration, telecom providers Telecommunications Services of T&T Limited (TSTT) and Digicel (Trinidad & Tobago) Limited have come together to procure and provide the devices. Minister of Education Nyan Gadsby-Dolly, in addressing the small group, acknowledged the tenacity of these and so many other donors in securing devices as T&T competes with the global demand for technology caused by the pandemic.

In-need students at public schools across T&T will receive the ICT-enabled devices, which come with screen protectors and cases, as well as SIM cards with mobile internet packages from the mobile service providers.
