DIGI ending free mobile usage tariff at end-2020

Hungarian quadruple-play network operator DIGI will cease providing its ‘free’ mobile tariff at the end of this year, with existing DIGIMobil customers being offered a range of options to switch to new tariffs in the lead-up to the change, reports local tech news site HWSW. Since May 2019 DIGI has provided its mobile network services on a zero-monthly fee basis exclusively for its fixed internet, TV or telephony subscribers (including its subsidiary Invitel), giving users unlimited domestic mobile data traffic and free on-net calls/SMS.

On its website, DIGI notes that monthly ‘premium’ DIGIMobil PLUS and DIGIMobil MAX tariff packages for DIGI and Invitel subscribers are valid from 1 January 2021 without contract commitment. Minimum monthly package cost is expected to be HUF500-HUF1,000 (USD1.60-USD3.20).
