Far EasTone Telecommunications has said that its deployment of 5G networks in Taiwan is ahead of schedule, with plans to complete the installation of 4,000 base station for 3.5GHz band by year-end 2020 and 8,000 by 2021.
The rollouts of 5G infrastructure and networks will push up its capex for 2020 to NT$10.2 billion (US$356.6 million), and the total expenditure will rise further in the coming year, said the telecom operator.
The promotion of its 5G subscriber business so far has been better than expected despite the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, said the company, expecting that 20% of its mobile subscribers will transfer to 5G services by year-end 2020 and 50% in three years.
