Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) has teamed up with global wireless network provider Fon Wireless to offer community-based Wi-Fi network access via the launch of its ‘sltgo’ Wi-Fi solution. Local newspaper Adaderana writes that the community Wi-Fi network platform will provide internet access to visitors and local users, creating a virtual public Wi-Fi network, as part of a wider community system available through 23 million hotspots in over 25 countries around the world.
It is understood that sltgo will be Sri Lanka’s most extensive Wi-Fi network, allowing wireless broadband internet access through smartphones, other mobile devices or laptops for pre-paid customers. Further, existing SLT broadband subscribers will also have access to sltgo as part of the data bundle included within their standard monthly plan.
