Zamtel stakes coverage lead in Zambia

Zambian operator Zamtel announced it switched on 744 towers to vastly expand its network coverage, with its chief executive claiming the move repositioned the operator to have the largest coverage in Zambia.

Zamtel chief executive officer Sydney Mupeta announced the new towers were part of the operator’s GRZ Phase II Access to Communication Project to bring connectivity to remote areas of Zambia, the Lusaka Times reported.

The towers are located in three locations in the districts of Muchinga and Chasefu, districts Mupeta labelled as key to tapping into for growth.

The tower project aimed to construct a total of 1009 new sites, Mupeta bullishly stated the towers places Zamtel as the nations’ leading operator with Zambia’s largest network footprint.

He teased the operator will be announced new digital products and services in the coming weeks to meet customer demands.

“We are proud to partner with the Government to ensure that every citizen, regardless of their geographical location, has access to reliable communication services,” said Mupeta.
