Asia Pacific Telecom (APT) has announced that it will kick off its commercial 5G services in Taiwan on October 22, leveraging a 5G spectrum sharing scheme reached with fellow company Far EasTone Telecommunications (FET).
APT will focus on offering vertical 5G applications in six major areas: smart energy, smart traffic, smart medical care, smart manufacturing, smart retailing and entertainment, according to industry sources.
The spectrum sharing will also allow FET to enhance its deployments in the 5G B2B and B2C segments leveraging cost advantages on 5G network construction, said the sources.
