The Communications Regulatory Authority has succeeded in providing an experience of high-speed Internet access via satellite for a school in a rural village in Muscat Governorate, which will deliver communication and Internet services to 141 schools in rural villages and regions.
The Communications Regulatory Authority said in a statement, “The success of the experience of providing high-speed Internet access via satellite for a school in rural villages that is part of the Afaq initiative to deliver telecommunications and Internet services to villages and rural communities.”
The statement said also, “This experiment was carried out this morning in Wadi Al Arabiyin School located in one of the rural villages in the Wilayat of Qurayyat, in the presence of His Excellency Engineer Omar Bin Hamdan Al Ismaeli, CEO of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, and a number of officials of the Authority, the Ministry of Education and telecommunications companies.”
The statement confirmed, ”With the success of this experiment, the process of connecting high-speed Internet via satellite will enter into force for 141 schools located in rural areas and villages in the Sultanate.”
“While Afaq initiative aims to deliver communication and Internet services to 598 rural villages and rural communities,” the statement added.
