Tunisia edtech startup GoMyCode raises $850,000 funding for geographical expansion

GoMyCode, a Tunis-based ed-tech startup has raised $850,000 with participation from Wamda in a pre-series A round. Other players are Tunis-based investment firm Meninx Holding, Anava Seed Fund behind Flat6Labs Tunis, and Jasminum Capital. Other angel investors such as Béchir Tourki, Dali Kilani, and Houssem Aoudi were participants.

GoMyCode was founded in 2017 by Amine Bouhlel and Yahya Bouhlel, who are both brothers. The startup began as a coding school but is now divested into several other forms of technology training and digital jobs in Algeria and Tunisia. The startup uses both online and offline learning when training others on website/app development data science, user experience, artificial intelligence, business intelligence, and video game development.

GOMYCODE has also been supported by USAID to help their “Reskill, Upskill” program, a joint initiative by Tunisia Jobs in USAID and GOMYCODE aimed at fighting unemployment in Tunisia. This program will help thousands of graduates who are in search of employment where the 4-month training will guarantee their professional integration into innovative professions.

GOMYCODE started this fundraiser to fuel its expansion. GOMYCODE thus far has a presence in Tunis, Sfax, and Sousse. The startup now aims for an international footprint into Algiers and Paris.

GOMYCODE plans to increase her presence in the African and Middle East markets where 42% of professions are heavily impacted by digitization. 65% of the workforce lacks the skills that actually matter for getting absorbed into innovative professions.

It’s no surprise that there are 400,000 vacancies that need to fill across Africa and the Middle East.

GOMYCODE gives both teachers and students proper digital training tools that provide training, skills management, content creation, business matching, and technical assessments. This educational training platform allows programs to be created swiftly and independently.

Since the startup made its debut, it has trained over 5000 students. GOMYCODE also helps those students get jobs where they could put into use those newly acquired skills. The program is reasonably priced where the 16-week FullStack JS program costs about TND 2,500 ($900) when paid upfront.

On Menabytes, Yahya Bouhlel, the CEO and co-founder of GoMyCode shared in a statement, “We have trained over 5,000 students, expanded to more than 4 sites, hired and trained a team of 62 full-time employees, built an educational platform and we are already having a strong impact on people’s lives.”

On the other hand, Amine Bouhlel, the COO and co-founder of GoMyCode released a statement saying, “We continue to deliver on our vision of providing high-level digital education with a unique learning experience that leaves lasting impressions and has a positive impact on people’s lives.”
