Movistar Venezuela has confirmed that it has switched on 4G services in San Cristobal, the state capital of Tachira, in Western Venezuela.
The deployment means that Movistar now offers LTE connectivity in a total of 20 major cities across the country.
30 cell sites were activated in San Cristobal, taking the number of base stations deployed during the country’s COVID-19 quarantine period to 330. Esther Borges, Movistar’s Vice President of Technology, told El Nacional that the cellco has invested USD26.5 million in the expansion of its LTE network over the last 20 months.
