PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom) has announced it is modernizing its telecommunications infrastructure in the city of Madiun, in the western part of East Java, providing a 100% fiber-based network to its inhabitants.
At the inauguration ceremony to mark the development, Telkom Network & IT Solution Director Herlan Wijanarko said: ‘The modernization of the network to fiber-optic is an important foundation in providing digital services, both digital platforms and services … This network modernization program forms part of Telkom’s commitment to improve the quality of ICT services for the community and accelerate the realization of the digitization of Indonesia.’
To date, Telkom has upgraded its network infrastructure in a number of cities and provinces across Indonesia, and now boasts a total of 270 so-called ‘Modern Broadband Cities’. It markets fiber broadband services under the banner IndiHome.
