The TRA launches its virtual summer camp under the theme "technical interactive lab in every home”

The Virtual Summer Camp, organized by the Telecommunication Regulatory Authority started recently and will continue until August 27. The Camp aims at investment in the Emirati young human resources, with main focus on information and communication technology within the vision of the UAE.

Due to the current circumstances of the COVID-19 outbreak, the Camp was designed in an innovative way to be in the home of every student. It is a step to enhance the culture of home technical labs to develop the future generation skills.

On this occasion, H. E. Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Director General, TRA, said: "Our vision is that building national capacities starts from the early life of our children. It is a basis for future shaping and empowerment of young people to possess the future tools and contribute to the future of our country. Organizing the TRA’s virtual summer camp highlights such goals. The TRA seeks to turn our student homes into real scientific labs to get acquainted with the artificial intelligence technologies and gain scientific experience to help them choose their specialties in the future.

Al Mansoori emphasised that organizing the camp on its scheduled date confirms our commitment to the innovation approach adopted by the UAE. He added: “The TRA’s virtual camp reflects a vital model for applying innovation in solving the problems and crises that face us. The first objective of the camp is to create an innovation-friendly environment to lead the UAE to top ranks globally in different fields. That environment may be the government entity, the school, or even the home. As in the past years, the camp will work this year to promote and spread the culture of innovation among the Emirati youth in the field of information and communications technology. It will help in sowing the seeds of knowledge, and encourage them to excel and innovate, as part of the efforts aimed at building capacities and young Emirati talents.

During the camp, students will build technological projects with the help of digital training resources provided by the TRA and delivered to students at their homes in cooperation with Noon. The TRA will provide technical support to students through a training staff available on the project's social media platform. The TRA will provide them with training resources through the TRA Virtual Academy. During the camp days, students will enter the TRA Virtual Academy platform and the project’s social media platform to get the digital resources to help them achieve their tasks and build their projects. Final projects will be submitted by the end of the second week of the camp. The best projects will be announced at the end of the project. The TRA has allocated valuable prizes for project winners.

It is noteworthy that this 6th edition is a step on success road of the camp. It highlights the TRA’s commitment to its social responsibility to provide the Emirati students necessary skills related to smart city, secure use of technology, social media, design and arts, innovation and future-shaping, capacity building and other soft skills.
