Russia’s leading pay-TV operator Tricolor has added transactional video on demand (TVOD) to its offer.
Initially, art and animation films released in Russia in 2019 and 2020 are being made available for rental or purchase, with costs starting at R99 (€1.14) per title.
Commenting on the development, Arsen Khomutov, Tricolor’s content director, said: “The new content payment model is aimed at improving the comfort of TV viewing. From any device, anywhere and regardless of time, customers can watch a variety of films and cartoons, including those that have recently been shown in film distribution. We are sure that the TVOD model will be in great demand among users”.
Rental or purchasing films is currently possible via the smart TVs Samsung – OS Tizen; Sony/Philips – Android TV, and LG- webOS.
They will also be accessible via Apple TV from this autumn.
