T-Mobile FTTH to cover three Eindhoven districts

T-Mobile Netherlands, in partnership with Primevest Capital Partners and VolkerWessels Telecom, has agreed with the Municipality of Eindhoven to deploy fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) broadband access to the city’s three remaining districts not already covered by fibre services, namely Centrum, Strijp and Gestel. From August subscribers there can sign up to a T-Mobile 1Gbps package, with 29,000 households and 1,100 small and medium-sized companies to be covered in the next few months, according to a press release. The Primevest Communication Infrastructure Fund (PCIF) and T-Mobile are targeting the rollout of gigabit fibre to at least 100,000 households in the Netherlands this year, having already implemented a major rollout in The Hague. The majority of Eindhoven is covered by rival KPN fibre.

KPN and the Municipality of Rotterdam this week signed an agreement to install gigabit FTTH throughout Rotterdam, aiming to connect 285,000 homes and businesses to the fibre network in five years. KPN’s press release says that after this summer the city’s Centrum-Oost and Delfshaven areas will be covered by FTTH, with other districts to follow later.
