NTV-Plus signals OTT expansion

The online TV service operated by the Russian DTH platform NTV-Plus has been made available in the CIS countries.

Subscribers in the countries now have access to around 100 TV channels in four thematic packages, as well as the premium library of films and TV shows in Amediateka Home of HBO. They also have access to0 the full functionality of NTV-Plus TV, including an archive, the ‘Watch Now’ section, access to highlights and one-time purchases of films and sports events.

Commenting on the development, Konstantin Smirnov, director of NTV-Plus’s digital products department, said: “The appearance of the international package in September 2018 showed that there is a demand for Russian-language television content not only among Russians traveling abroad, but also among compatriots abroad.

“We created a unique product and tried to make it high-quality, convenient and attractive. I think we succeeded. The most difficult thing to deal with is clearing rights, but we are constantly working on it and will increase the number of channels. I can say the same thing about video libraries: the number of integrations with them will grow”.

The CIS countries in which NTV-Plus TV is now available are Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

The number of channels offered in each varies depending on the rights to internet broadcasting in a particular jurisdiction.
