Uzmobile expanding LTE to all GSM/3G cell sites in Tashkent, other regions

Uzmobile, the mobile division of state-backed Uzbektelecom, reported on its website that it has expanded 4G LTE coverage in Uzbek capital Tashkent as well as increasing the size of the LTE frequency bandwidth utilised in the city to significantly raise cellular internet data speeds. The work was carried out under a project to expand LTE to all existing 2G/3G base station sites in Tashkent as well as other regions including Bekabad, Bukinskiy, Pskent, Akhangaran, Urtachirchik, Kuyichirchik, Akkurgan, Chinaz and Yangiyul. Uzmobile notes that its technical teams are continuing their scheduled work on expanding and modernising the network despite the ongoing COVID-19 quarantine period.

Having launched LTE services in 2016, Uzmobile – Uzbekistan’s third largest mobile operator by subscribers – has rolled out the widest LTE network in the country, according to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, while also continuing to expand its 2G GSM, 3G W-CDMA/HSPA+ and CDMA2000 1xEV-DO networks.
