Quibi has made its debut in the United States Canada with 300,000 downloads on its first day.
Unlike rival Disney+ Quibi is only available on mobile devices.
Sensor Tower’s Store Intelligence platform, which released the figures, says the debut placed Quibi at 7.5% of the approximately 4 million installs seen by Disney+ when it launched last November.
By comparison there were 45,000 installs of HBO NOW ahead of the season five premiere of Game of Thrones back in 2015.
In addition, Quibi’s release figures benefitted from a lengthy pre-order period.
Quibi’s short form video service was founded by the former Walt Disney Studios chairman Jeffrey Katzenberg. Its 11 investors include The Walt Disney Company, NBCUniversal, Sony Pictures, WarnerMedia, Liberty Global, ViacomCBS and Alibaba Group.
