Regional press outlets have announced the launch by the Abu Dhabi Digital Authority (ADDA) of its Abu Dhabi Connect initiative to fast-track digitisation of government services in the Emirate.
The Department of Government Support, represented by ADDA, introduced the new digital solutions to support community and entrepreneurs and streamline government work. Obviously, these changes will also aid the vast number of citizens now working from or staying at home.
Abu Dhabi Connect, a first-of-its-kind initiative in the region, is a project under the umbrella of TAMM, which is a one-shop portal for all Abu Dhabi government services.
The project aims to enable government entities to digitally exchange documents of individuals and companies by transforming these paper documents into digital data. This means that more than 50 hard-copy documents will be converted into digital data for use across 24 government entities. This, it is argued, will in turn simplify the procedures of more than 500 government services that provide more than five million transactions annually.
According to ADDA, the project will save more than 737,000 working hours for government entities and some seven million hours and around $194 million for its customers. It will be relevant to around 31 million archived documents annually.
Popular digitised documents are likely to include medical insurance files, property verification certificates, driving licences, water and electricity bills, passports, vehicle registrations and commercial licences.
