Ukrtelecom will deploy a rural GPON fibre optic network via a new agreement with Iskratel and SID Bank of Slovenia.
The Ukrainian operator already has partnerships with both parties, and the latest deal is set to last two years. Under the agreement, 2000km of fibre will be deployed to connect more than 200 settlements.
Around UAH200 million (USD7.2 million) will be invested into the build-out of the GPON fibre optic network, with Ukrtelecom promising that it will connect “hundreds of thousands” of Ukrainians living in smaller villages.
The network will cover 13 regions of Ukraine: Cherkasy, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Khmelnytsky, Luhansk, Mykolaiv, Odessa, Poltava, Rivne, Sumy and Vinnytsia.
