TV maker Vizio has signed a deal with Disney to bring the Disney+ SVOD to its SmartCast smart TV platform.
While users had previously been able to access cast the streamer to their TV sets via Apple AirPlay 2 and Chromecast, this update will allow viewers to launch the app and search for Disney+ content directly from the SmartCast home screen.
The Disney+ app is available on the SmartCast platform in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico, and users in these locations can find and subscribe through the apps row on SmartCast Home or through the SmartCast Mobile app.
Users will also be able to search for content using their voice, with the SmartCast platform being compatible with Siri, Google Assistant and Alexa-enabled devices.
Bill Baxter, chief technology officer at Vizio said: “At Vizio, we are always working to provide the best home entertainment experience for our users. We are excited to bring Disney+ onto the SmartCast platform to give viewers access to even more content to enjoy.”
All Vizio SmartCast TVs made after 2016 will be updated with Disney+ over the air.
