As part of an ongoing dedication to bring fans closer to the game they love and in partnership with the NBA, AT&T is connecting fans to 5G experiences and entertainment throughout NBA All-Star 2020.
“AT&T is unlocking the power of 5G as a key partner for NBA All-Star,” said Thaddeus Arroyo, CEO of AT&T Consumer. “Fans in Chicago can use 5G to take their favorite dunk to the boards or sink virtual 3-pointers, while those watching the AT&T Slam Dunk Contest, AT&T Pregame Concert or NBA All-Star Game will get closer to the action through 5G smartphones broadcasting parts of the live action.”
AT&T to Power the First 5G NBA All-Star
AT&T is all set to offer its fastest and best 5G+ experience at the United Center in Chicago, the largest arena in the U.S. In the arena, all fans with 5G-capable devices are now able to enjoy the benefits of our 5G network as it covers the arena’s general seating and can be found throughout the venue.
The network will also help power the AT&T NBA Slam Dunk Contest on Feb. 15 and the 69th NBA All-Star Game on Feb. 16 through the AT&T 5G Courtside Cam hosted by TNT’s Inside the NBA analyst Shaquille O’Neal. Unique angles of each event will be captured and shared over AT&T’s 5G+ network during portions of TNT’s live broadcast.
This broadcast integration extends AT&T’s leadership in paving the way for 5G in sports. Only AT&T has used 5G to bring fans unique angles of all the action at 2019 MGM Resorts NBA Summer League and 2019 Kia NBA Tip-Off, as well as to facilitate distribution of footage during the 2018 U.S. Open.
“No other modern media company thrills sports fans like AT&T, whether it’s more memorable moments using 5G, our inaugural ‘House of AT&T’ experience at our Michigan Avenue store, or the best sports voices from NBA on TNT and fan-favorite Bleacher Report, HBO and Warner Bros. content during NBA All-Star,” said Fiona Carter, chief brand officer, AT&T Communications. “In our NBA partnership’s first year, we’ve given millions of NBA, WNBA and NBA 2K League fans more ways to love basketball, and 2020 is shaping up to be even more incredible.”
