MTN Nigeria, the country’s largest mobile operator by subscribers, plans to invest around US$1.6 billion in its operations and networks over the next three years. The development was revealed by President and CEO of MTN Group, Rob Shuter, during a meeting with Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami.
As previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate, earlier this month Nigeria’s Attorney General dropped a USD2 billion tax demand against MTN Nigeria, paving the way for an end to a legal battle between the parties. MTN said it will withdraw its legal action and engage with the authorities on the issue.
