Megacable, Mexico’s largest cable operator by subscribers, has teamed up with Technicolor Connected Home to introduce the country’s first DOCSIS 3.1 network.
Miguel Sol, CTO for Megacable, commented: ‘Megacable customers will be able to download data up to 1Gbps. This will allow us to support emerging applications and services, such as next-generation gaming, video and other cloud-based offerings. We are already in the process of bringing the DOCSIS 3.1 gateways from Technicolor Connected Home to market.’ Based on the cableco’s website, it appears the upgraded speeds will go live in March 2020.
